Should You Prepare for a Nuclear War?

According to the CDC the answer would be yes.  Granted, if you are in the immediate blast zone you will be SOL but everyone should study up on the topic just in case.  Here are some resources:

• You can start by using this interesting blast zone calculator to see how your area would fare during an attack.
• And learn the basics about a nuclear attack here.
• The government offers some basic info on nuclear preparedness as well.
• On the flip side, here is a more realistic opinion on nuclear war survival.
• There are several preparedness websites with info on nuclear preps (examples here, here, and here).
• Apparently Kansas City is the best place to survive a nuclear attack.  And these are the cities you don't want to be in.   There are also several countries that are drawing preppers who are seeing nuclear war in the future as well as many billionaires who are prepping for whatever disaster may happen.
• Here is a nuclear preparedness checklist.
• And a big list of WHO nuclear prep resources.

Whether we are facing a nuclear attack, you live near a nuclear plant, or the threat of a dirty bomb is a possibility, having a general overview of nuclear/radiological preparedness is good knowledge to have.

Highly Classified Document Posted

One of the email lists I am on is Steven Aftergood's 'Secrecy News'. Usually there are interesting tidbits in these emails but it isn't like I wait anxiously for my emails from this organization. Imagine my surprise when I came across a totally separate article (in the NY Times I believe) about a highly classified document that came out in his e-newsletter today. Of course I quickly checked my email and found this document (note it is a 13mg file) that is clearly listed on the document as Highly Classified but had been posted by the GAO apparently by accident. The document lists all of the nuclear "sites, locations, facilities, and activities" in the US.
