You can find a simple bidet on Amazon for around $25, installation is an easy DIY task, and you will save loads of money on toilet paper. It really isn't as weird as it sounds.

Grow some sort of food. This can be as simple as sprouting, growing food scraps, container gardening, or (with experience) tearing up the entire yard and building a garden.

Learn about HAM radio. You can pick up a $25 Baofeng UVV-5R HAM radio on Amazon and learn all about how to set it up, find stations, and listen to others broadcasting. If you want to actually broadcast yourself, you must get a license (a simple process) and you will have a secondary form of communication if the grid goes down. Note that there are a bajillion videos on YouTube to teach you all you need to know about HAM radio.

Camp outside overnight. This can be done at a local park, local wilderness, or even in your own back yard and you don't need fancy equipment (years ago we would just take the blankets off our beds, roll out some canvas, and sleep under the stars).

Walk and explore. This can be done anywhere, anytime, and the only "equipment" you need are a pair of shoes (and you may not even need those).

Create your own electricity. All you need is a solar panel and a battery bank and you can create usable electricity for your household needs. This may be a little spendy (around $300 for a basic set up) but the price of these systems have decreased considerably and the quality has improved dramatically over the past few years. Again, there are a bajillion videos on YouTube on this topic.

Stockpile food. Begin by stockpiling enough food to carry you through a week-long disaster where you can't get to the grocery store and build up from there. This can be as simple as buying 21 cans of soup and calling it good (three meals a day for seven days) or you can get more creative and mix it up with some oatmeal, dried soup mixes, granola bars, etc.

Practice preserving food. You can dehydrate fruit, vegies, and meat in your oven, freezer jam is super simple to make, and pickle making is also easy. Once you get the hang of this, you may want to expand into water bath or pressure canning, smoking, etc.

Take any free or cheap classes offered in your community. Libraries, health districts, fire departments, the Red Cross, etc. often offer free or cheap preparedness curses like CERT, first aid, foraging, etc.

Build basic kits. You can hit up the Dollar Tree for all of the essentials you need to make a simple first aid kit, maybe check out thrift stores and/or Amazon to make an EDC or Bug Out Bag kit, etc.

Make a disaster tablet. You can get a cheap Samsung android tablet for around $100 on sale and create a disaster tablet with all of the information you need on it should the grid go down. The reason I like these tablet is because you can add a micro SD card to greatly expand the memory of the tablet. Here's an example of what you may want to include on your tablet.

Watch YouTube. Instead of endlessly scrolling people behaving badly on TikTok, spend your time on YouTube learning things like self defense, shooting techniques, lockpicking, first aid skills, etc.

Take a couple hours to make a family disaster plan. You can type up the information on your computer or write it in a notebook, but gathering information and creating an actual plan will go a long way towards making you and your family more prepared for a disaster (plan example here).

Get a radio. I know music services have pretty much all gone online with Spotify et al but having a simple AM/FM battery-operated radio, or, if needed, a NOAA radio can be a lifesaver in an emergency.

Learn to cook and bake. Bread is super simple to make, as are soups, chilis, stir frys, etc. Making your own food is a great way to stretch your food dollars, learn valuable skills, and prepare for the day grocery stores and restaurants may be inaccessible.

Squirrel away money. Cash can fix many disasters large and small so to insure you always have emergency money at the ready, take every opportunity to squirrel away cash--both at home and in the bank--to use during a disaster.

Do some calisthenics and body weight exercises everyday. This is an excellent, free way to prepare for a disaster. You would be surprised at the number of people who are completely unable to run, jump, climb, and do all of the other physical movements needed for basic emergency response simply because they stopped exercising years ago.

Interview the oldest people you know. Elderly people often have a wide range of knowledge which would be considered disaster preparedness information today (back then, it was called everyday life). How did they do laundry before today's washing machines were invented, where are the best places to fish, do they use any home remedies for various ailments, what were the biggest challenges they faced in their lives and how did they overcome these challenges, etc.

Take the entire weekend off from all media (no TVs, radios, cell phones, internet, gaming devices, etc). Extreme? Yes. Useful and enlightening? Yes. In a grid-down situation, it is important to know how to entertain yourself without electronic media. And after the initial shock, your brain will feel like it has been on a much-needed vacation. If you must know what is going on in the world, go buy a newspaper. If you are bored, read a book or play chess.

Practice practice practice. Practice building fires, practice putting out fires, practice fire drills and lock-down drills, practice bugging out, practice bugging in...if you don't practice the skills you learn, you may very well forget them so continually practice the preparedness skills you now in order to keep them sharp.

<!--

Tldr; if you are going to use a burner phone for nefarious--or non nefarious--purposes, use it correctly. Here is how to use a burner phone correctly...

Never carry your burner phone when you are carrying your normal phone. Seeing both phones ping together all the time can tie it to you.

Ditto, don't carry your burner phone when you are wearing your smart watch or using other digital devices.

Don't allow your burner phone to connect to your home wifi, work wifi, or cell hot spot.

When not using your burner phone, remove the SIM, turn it off, and keep it in a Faraday cage.

Don't use your burner phone to call people you know.

Don't use your burner phone to call the same people repeatedly.

Buy your burner phone and burner SIM anonymously with cash.

Let the burner phone and SIM age (don't use it for several months after your purchase it).

Buy a basic flip phone (not a smart phone) for your burner phone.

Use a physical SIM for the phone, not an e-SIM.

Optionally, you can de-Google your smart burner phone before you use it.

Never log into any of your personal accounts (email, Facebook, bank, etc) from your burner phone.

Use the burner phone for a very short period of time, destroy it, then start over with a new burner phone.

More info here, here, and here.

<!--

Some people have said they don't need a bug out bag because they won't flee their home and will bug in no matter what, however there are several circumstances where it doesn't matter what one thinks, as leaving your home--AKA bugging out--may be your only option. Case(s) in point...

Evacuating neighborhoods due to an active shooter situation is becoming fairly common in my city...and many other places. The evacuation might last for an hour or it may last for days so you might as well have everything you need with you to be comfortable while you wait out the situation away from your home.

Of course there are several other reasons you may need to evacuate including chemical spills, bomb threats, and other man-made disasters which can happen at any time.

And for those who say they won't evacuate no matter what, wildfires and Katrina-esque floods usually change their minds pretty quickly.

One of the most common reasons people are forced to involuntarily leave their homes is due to a medical emergency. Whether it is a loved one or yourself, ending up in the hospital due to a medical emergency means you need to have basic emergency supplies with you to pass the hours--or days or weeks--in marginal comfort.

Relationship issues can force a person to bug out, often at the last minute, and often as surreptitiously as possible. It may be a stalker, a violent SO, or a lunatic neighbor that causes a sudden and urgent need to evacuate.

Your house is destroyed by fire. This too is surprisingly common in my city and pretty much elsewhere else.

War lands on your doorstep. I was rather astounded that even on the eve of Russia invading Ukraine, many Ukrainians were on social media saying they didn't believe Russia would really invade their country. Obviously they should have seen the warning signs (like troops massing on their border) and bugged out post-haste.

A deadly pandemic is a good reason to bug out to somewhere more isolated. So called 'escape communities' are a good example of getting away from the masses to avoid the spread of viral disease.

Then there is massive civil unrest/martial law/foreign invasion which would force the logical person to bug out in order to live to fight another day (I'd like to think this is so unlikely to happen that I shouldn't even include it here but...you never know).

Finally, some people choose to bug out...and never be found again. It's an issue not uncommon in Japan and, checking out the multi-millions of views videos on the topic of 'how to disappear completely' get on YouTube, this seem to be top of mind for many people.

<!--

My first thought was "that is quite the propaganda piece". Mostly because US media doesn't give a crap about anything that happens in Serbia, unless, as in the case of this story, it serves to further a US political agenda item. Since almost all media is owned by a total of six companies, and since the media has a decidedly woke, leftist political bent, what better way to push the message that guns are bad and that everyone in America should be disarmed than having an actor (really, you can't call these people journalists anymore) raving about the wisdom of disarming an entire population, even if that population is in Serbia. Don't fall for the propaganda.

<!--

Below are some examples of things that a global, unelected group of people feel they should have control over--everything from ID and banking to tobacco and other things that should be national policy (subsidies, foreign trade agreement, migration, where to put our tax dollars, etc). Even though these goals are couched in the friendliest language possible, reading between the lines points to a truly dystopian world we are marching towards.

<li style="box-sizing: border-box; They may be in short supply soon due to material shortages and high demand.

<!--

On each of your walks, look for the following things...

Instead of taking the same route everyday, take a different route for each walk.

Walk at different times during the day.

Walk during different types of weather (sun, rain, snow, etc).

Look for different types of water sources (lake, stream, water outlets on the side of commercial buildings, etc).

Look for a variety of food sources in season (wild nut trees, neighbor's garden, fruit trees, etc).

Walk around a block, memorize as many things as you can (cars, license plates, house numbers, color of houses, etc) then walk around the block again and note how many things you remembered correctly.

Look for things you could scavenge in an emergency (discarded plastic water bottle, coins, broken glass, discarded clothing, etc).

Look for anything you could use as a weapon if needed (rocks, sticks, a hand full of sand, etc).

Change up the location of your walks (urban areas, suburbs, wilderness, etc).

Change up the difficulty of your walks (flat, hilly, mountainous, paved paths, gravel trails, etc).

Build your walk kit and refine it with each walk (water bottle, daypack, mini medical kit, etc).

After several walks, invest in better shoes and socks (my favorites are Merrell or Brooks shoes and Darn Tough socks).

Challenge yourself with increasing distance, walking daily without breaking the streak, etc.

Regularly walk wearing packs of different weights (this is great practice for future backpacking trips and also great practice in the event of an emergency bugout).

Notice things about the homes you pass on your walks (who has a gun safe in their garage, who has a workshop in their garage, which houses seem to be abandoned, etc).

Refine the clothing you wear on your walks (try out sun-protective clothing, determine the best rain jacket for your needs, etc).

Expand to different types of walks--backpacking, walking half or whole marathons, take walking vacations, etc.

<!--

De-Googling a phone is fairly simple--buy a Pixel phone, watch a few YouTube videos on the topic, install Lineage/Graphene/Calyx/etc on the phone, and you will be on your way to cell phone privacy. Kind of. Besides the cardinal rule of privacy--nothing you do digitally is 100% private and secure--there are several ways your phone activities can still be tracked even on a de-Googled phone...

The phone can be linked to you via the IMEI number if you purchase the phone online (like on Amazon) or in a store (like Best Buy) with a credit card. When a phone is sold, the IMEI number is often attached to the sale and using a credit card allows the phone to be connected to you.

If you decide to do an end run around this process and go into a store and pay cash for the phone, you should probably do this at a store not in your area and give it a six months "aging period" (ie: leave it in the box and don't even turn it on for several months). I'm not sure how long store surveillance videos are kept these days, but many a criminal is found on nearby store surveillance video buying the shovel/duct tape/tarp needed to hide their criminal activity, even if they paid cash for the items.

Never connect your de-Googled phone to your home/work/school wi fi network.

Don't use your de-Googled phone to call friends/relatives/others who can be traced back to you.

Don't use/carry your de-Googled phone along side your normie phone (the phones will ping together for period of time which is pretty much a dead giveaway when it comes to who has the de-Googled phone).

Never log into apps/email addresses that can be traced to you like email/Amazon/Facebook/etc. Doing this immediately links your identity to the phone.

Don't use your regular sim card in your de-Googled phone. Again, this immediately links your known identity to the phone. Pick up a burner sim for the phone.

Put the sim card in the phone when you need to use it then immediately remove the sim when it is no longer in use. The sim card can be tracked through IMSI catchers to locate and eavesdrop on your phone activities.

Use a microphone blocker device on your cell phone.

Turn off the bluetooth on the phone as well as location permissions.

Only charge your de-Googled phone with your own charge-only USB cable to avoid juice jacking.

Keep your phone in a Faraday bag when not in use.

Use a VPN when using your de-Googled cell phone.

Never give your de-Googled phone number to friends or family. Most people will add the number to their contacts and it will be vacuumed up by any social media services they use.

Use a secure browser and ad-blocking DNS servers.

Never use your de-Googled phone for 2FA.

tldr; if you want 100% digital privacy, don't use or bring digital devices (cell phone, smart watch, iPad, etc) with you. I have no doubt that the first thing the cops did when this young lady was killed by a group of guys throwing rocks at cars, was geofence the area. Geofencing shows all cell phones in a certain location at a certain time and since pretty much everyone--criminals included--carry their cell phones with them at all times, it was a no-brainer to determine who the rock throwers were. Don't want a digital tracking device to track you? Don't carry a digital tracking device.

<!--

Join a club! Here are some to consider...

HAM radio club. These clubs will teach you about HAM radio communication, offer contests and challenges, and increase your radio knowledge considerably.

Walking club. Besides being great exercise, these clubs will show you little-known places even in your own city. Examples here, here, and here.

Shooting club. Your local gun club is a great place to shoot, learn tactical skills, and meet with like-minded people. In addition to searching for a local club, this and this organization are also worth joining.

Hiking and backpacking clubs. You can find these clubs on Meet Up as well as by Googling the topic and your local area. This is a great way to get out in the wilderness with fun, interesting people.

Maker clubs. When TEOTWAWKI comes around, your maker skills are going to be a top priority. Learn these valuable skills now at a maker space in our community.

Gardening. Learning how to grow your own food is a vital skill. With both local and national gardening clubs to join, you will be well on your way to food self sufficiency.

Random, specific knowledge clubs like orienteering, hacking, lockpicking, hunting, etc.

<!--

Continually reinforce the need for OpSec with your family. You don't want your spouse or kids telling their friends about the armory in the basement, the stash of gold you maintain, or the two year's worth of food you have stored for an emergency.

77. Be aware of KYC laws and how this can impact your banking/other business activity.

78. Don't talk to the police besides the basics of identifying yourself.

79. Beware that if you are connected to the grid, your utility usage can make your private life habits public knowledge (and be used to prosecute you in some cases).

80. Speaking of utilities, don't allow companies to use remote access programs to access your private data. Examples here and here.

81. Beware of how your activities can put your personal information on display. This can be things like race tracking or even getting your name in the paper for something you have done.

82. When traveling, especially internationally, take extra care with your device security.

83. Take steps to improve the privacy of your home such as following these tips, walking around the exterior of your home both during the day and at night to ensure people can not see into your home, covering anything in the garage you don't want the neighbors to see when you open your garage door (like your gun safe or stored food), etc.

84. Take a look at your work environment and institute as many privacy and security tips as possible (examples here, here, and here).

85. Take privacy precautions if you will be participating in a protest.

86. Teach your children about privacy and do your best to keep their personal data (photos, cell number...basically everything kids regularly post on social media these days) off-line. This education also includes personal privacy topics as well.

87. Biohacking, implant tracking, and even cyber hacking your vehicle are the "brave new world" of privacy problems. Examples here, here, and here.

88. Before you have guests, the housekeeper, workmen, etc come into your home, securely store cash/jewelry/prescription meds/guns/mail/personal papers/etc. away from prying eyes.

89. Make your car as generic looking as possible. Keep the interior clean and bare of anything that would attract thieves or privacy snoops, and for the love of God, don't put bumper stickers on your vehicle.

90. Similarly, before you leave your vehicle with the valet or mechanic, only give them the vehicle's valet key (not your whole keychain), and lock valuables (firearm, cash, registration info, anything with your personal info on it) in your glove box.

91. If you want to be in for a shocker when it comes to how little digital privacy you have, download your Apple or Google data.

92. Take steps to avoid cross-device tracking, including browser isolation, using an air-gapped computer, etc.

93. Use physical devices to secure your cell phone and laptop including camera covers, privacy screen protectors, microphone blocker device, USB data blockers, etc.

94. Learn how to hide from drones. More info here.

95. If you need to take extreme measures, consider using a disguise when you go out.

96. Keep up with new privacy/tech topics as this subject changes very rapidly. On YouTube, check out The Hated One, Rob Braxman, Techlore, All Things Secured, Wolfgang's Channel, Sumsub, Shannon Morris, Naomi Brockwell, etc.

97. If money is no object, you can hire a cybersecurity team to assist you with all manner of digital security.

98. Don't want your consumer purchases used to track you? Become a maker.

99. Brush up on privacy laws that effect you. Examples here, here, and here.

100. Clear up any legal/financial problems so you will not be encumbered by the legal/court system (also consider expunging or sealing your records if this is needed/possible).

52. Do not rely on any government assistance programs.

53. For even more privacy, consider renting a home which includes all utilities "off the books".

54. Own a pre-1990's vehicle which doesn't have a "black box", On-Star, etc.

55. Do not drive a company/commercial vehicle (examples why here and here).

56. Be aware that the dashcam you use to protect you is also recording everything you do and say.

57. Also be aware that when you call 911 you are being recorded (even before the 911 operator answers).

58. Avoid CCTV/facial recognition cameras by wearing a hat, sunglasses, and mask when you are out in public (which isn't nearly as unusual post-pandemic as it was pre-pandemic).

59. Develop a wide skill set that would allow you to work "off the books."

60. Go backpacking in a remote area for a couple of weeks (this may drop you totally off the grid if you do not bring any electronic devices with you).

61. Use a notebook and pen for taking notes as digital notes can be compromised.

62. Scrub your metadata from photos and email headers.

63. Use non-digital home security options to safeguard your home.

64. Learn how pre-digital surveillance societies did things (examples here, here, and here).

65. Engineer a "normal life" and a separate "private" life.

66. Improve your health and fitness to the point you don't need ongoing prescription medicines, ongoing medical monitoring, etc.

67. If you need another reason to avoid social media, realize that these services can and do share your most personal data (examples here and here).

68. Become aware of old fashioned spy-craft skills.

69. Learn how to avoid online scams and phishing attacks.

70. Use items that can not be digitally tracked (old fashioned alarm clocks, "dumb" TVs, non-digital cameras, etc).

71. Become familiar with Tor, Tails, and the Dark Web.

72. Realize that the most mundane appliances can be used to track you (example here).

73. Continually update your knowledge of surveillance self defense. Also this.

74. Learn about OSINT techniques then use these research skills on yourself so you will learn what modifications you need to make to enhance your privacy.

75. Also, regularly Google 'how to protect my privacy' for new and updated techniques to use.

<!--

If you must buy online, shop directly through store websites instead of buying on Amazon.

29. And not just for the rich and famous but for every single person on the planet who probably has a pile of their data sitting on a computer in a data center being parsed, packaged, and sold to whoever will buy it (advertisers most likely, but even the feds will gladly pay for data on people so they can avoid the pesky fourth amendment).

That being said, there are still many ways to keep a bit of privacy in your life but remember none of these tips are 100% foolproof so any app/service/person who says "do this and you will have 100% privacy" is lying. Even being out in the middle of the wilderness seemingly alone doesn't mean your activities are completely private (see also the Gabby Petito murder that was solved when someone driving by the remote murder site happened to catch the boyfriend's vehicle on their dash cam). Here are some ways to make your everyday life a bit more private and secure:

De-google a pixel phone using graphene (and never use it to log into google services).

And use an anonymous SIM card in your phone.

Replace the Windows OS on your computer with Linux.

Choose apps/websites/browsers with your privacy in mind.

Use VPNs and/or a secure router when accessing the internet.

Use an encrypted USB flash drive to store your files and/or back up your files.

Own property through a trust and/or LLC (seek legal guidance for setting this up).

Use an electric bike to avoid vehicle tracking technologies.

Live in a remote area to avoid (most) community and residential surveillance cameras.

Set up your own library of books gleaned from garage sales and thrift stores (not Amazon, not e-books).

Set up your own DVD library gleaned from garage sales and thrift stores (not Amazon, not streaming services).

Set up your own CD/record music library gleaned from garage sales and thrift stores (not Amazon, not Spotify).

Use an over-the-air antenna instead of using cable or streaming services.

Use a "dumb" TV instead of a "smart" TV.

Use a regular vacuum instead of a "smart" vacuum.

Never use voice assistant devices in your home.

Pay cash for as many things as possible.

If you must use a credit card, consider using a virtual credit card.

Consider using a virtual mailbox address for privacy.

And if you must use Amazon, pick up your purchases at a Hub locker instead of having home delivery.

Instead of a fitness tracker, use an old fashioned pedometer.

Instead of a smart watch, use an old fashioned watch.

Instead of streaming radio, use an old fashioned radio.

Delete social media (yes, this includes Facebook).

Do not use Apple devices.

<!--

I am also guessing that many of these people were unprepared for such an experience.

Everyone should have basic supplies and equipment in their car in case of emergency. This includes:

Bottled water

Simple, easy to eat, no cooking required food

A charged battery bank to power your cell phone

Blankets or sleeping bags

A way to stay warm (usb handwarmers and an additional battery bank, for example)

Flashlights and spare batteries

A way to go to the bathroom (a coffee can with cat litter, TP, and hand sanitizer, for example)

Entertainment (a book and reading light, cards, etc)

Other emergency supplies

<!--

I may update items to newer versions, change out lower quality items to higher quality items, and more importantly, make sure the clothes still fit and are appropriate for the upcoming season. My BOB runs a fine line between the possibility of bugging out to a city hotel room/spending multiple days in a hospital to true bugging out to the wilderness or living in my vehicle for days on end. I also like the idea of having a small, minimalist kit versus including every possible thing in a 95l pack. Here are 100 items you might consider putting in your bug out bag:

Backpack. Much easier to carry than a duffel bag or messenger bag.

Tent/footprint. Pick the smallest and lightest for your needs.

Sleeping bag. A down bag can pack extremely small yet still be quite warm.

Sleeping pad. I like a torso-sized, cheap, closed-cell foam pad.

Emergency blanket. Of the mylar variety.

Matador blanket. Thin, lite and has a variety of uses.

Rumple blanket. Ditto.

Food. Several day's worth, lightweight, easy to cook and eat, stuff you like to eat.

Matches. For obvious reasons.

Lighter. A back up for matches.

Utensils. Spork, spoon, fork, etc.

Ferro rod and striker. A back up for your matches and lighter.

Firestarter. A small packet of tinder to make fire-starting easier.

Stove/fuel. Could be anything from a cat food tin stove and fuel to a sterno set to a MSR stove.

Mess kit. To cook ad eat your food with.

Can opener. A p 38 type works fine.

Pot scrubber. Just cut off a chunk from your general kitchen-type scrubber.

Titanium cup. You can drink coffee as well as cook and eat from one of these.

Bandana. Has a hundred uses.

Folding water bottle. Good for extra water storage.

Nalgene water bottle. A standard way to carry water or beverages.

Water purification tablets. A cheap and easy way to purify water.

Water filter/purification system. Cue massive panic as people raced to the gas stations to get gas (along with thousands of other people). The governor put out a statement telling people not to panic. Of course that made even more people panic. Less than 24 hours later the pipeline is back to normal and people panicked for no reason.

There's something to be said for being prepared so that you can calmly assess a situation before taking action. Much like the great toilet paper panic when the pandemic began, people who keep a stockpile of everything they usually use, whether it be gasoline or toilet paper or the myriad other things we use on a daily basis, they find that they can enjoy a sense of calm and they need not jump into the fray with the panicking hoards and can instead watch with amusement from the sidelines.

<!--

That's more people than some small cities! If you have been watching the news, you have probably seen video of the massive scale of the devastation and noted that rescue efforts, while ongoing, are pretty sparse compared to the grand scale of the disaster. This sort of thing could happen in the US as well so it just makes sense to be as prepared as possible for such an event. Here's how to prepare:

Find lists of how to prepare for an earthquake and proactively take steps to get prepared (examples here, here, here, here, and here).

Have your bug out bag packed and ready to "grab and go" at a moment's notice.

Be prepared to camp out in your vehicle, back yard, or emergency shelter if your home becomes unlivable after an earthquake.

Be prepared to provide your own food and water for a week or two after an earthquake (emergency assistance may be days or weeks away from getting to you).

Be skilled in basic emergency medical care and have a well-stocked first aid kit.

Take as many emergency preparedness classes as possible (Red Cross first aid, CERT training, EMT training, etc).

Have cash on hand as ATMs and credit card services may be down after a disaster.

Have multiple methods of transportation as roads may be impassible for vehicles (bike, motorcycle, etc).

Have multiple methods for cooking (a gas burner on your patio stove or backpacking stove and fuel), electricity (a battery bank and portable solar panels), water purification (chemical or mechanical filters), sewage disposal (5 gallon bucket/bags/cat litter), heating (a propane heater/wood stove/etc), and lights (solar lights recharged during the day then brought inside in the evening, usb-powered lights, flashlights, candles, etc).

Practice camping and backpacking and basically living without modern conveniences for an extended period of time. This will both test out your gear and teach you skills you won't learn in books.

Prepare to band together with friends or neighbors for mutual aid and safety.

Have digital and paper back-ups of all important documents, contact lists, home inventories, etc.

Have PPE equipment as well as clean up supplies on hand to use after the disaster.

<!--

Of course you, because you are interested in preparedness, are ready to deal with these common problems including...

Today a train derailment sparked a massive fire. What you do: have your bug out bag ready so you can evacuate at a moment's notice.

Attacks on substations seem to be ramping up. What you do: have multiple methods to power your house (and test these methods before you need them).

Today it is cold AF across the northeast. What you do: situational awareness and spatial awareness are your top priorities always. Also, you pretty much eschew social media.

The Tyre Nichols case has been all over the news recently. What you do: you are obviously aware that police brutality can be an issue but common sense and courtesy will get you safely out of most situations.

Road rage cases are also on the rise and in the news on pretty much a daily basis. What you do: as a responsible gun owner, you do what you can to avoid using your firearm unless absolutely necessary (and you make sure you have an iron-clad self defense case lest you spend the next several years of your life in court and/or in prison).

More than half the American population can't cover a $1000 expense with savings. What you do: as a responsible prepper, you ALWAYS have an emergency fund.

In another survey, it seems that many young people lack basic home maintenance skills which were common for kids to learn in generations past. The possibilities will be amazing and/or it may end civilization as we know it.

Anecdotally, I know A LOT of people who have been double and triple vaxxed and they are either sick, or in a few cases, dead. While the mainstream media is pointing to coincidence, there are some doctors saying maybe giving giant pharmaceutical companies unlimited power without any oversight might be a bad idea. I used to take medical and scientific studies at face value; these days I first check to see who funded the study to see if they got their money's worth.

If you don't know who Whitney Webb is, you should. Search YouTube for videos like this (before they are scrubbed from the internet).

If you live in the southeast, I hope you and yours are safe after the massive tornado outbreak that happened yesterday.

<!--
