A Bit of Housekeeping

While I work out some webhosting issues, you will find the entire CNI site here on this blog.  The links to the left will take you to the 2020 Daily Insight links as well as to the CNI Links list which made up the front page of the CNI website.

Website Update

Code Name Insight has a new website!  I will be adding more stuff to it in the upcoming days, however the blog posts will remain here on blogger due to ease of updating and the fact that there are already 1200+ blogposts here, moving them would be a huge PITA.  You can find the new website here.

The Website/Blog Update

In the interest of saving time and making my life less complicated, I have decided to move everything from the website over to this blog.  Eventually the web address will be pointed to this blog (eventually.  When I get all of the particulars taken care of).  You can still find all of the information from the website here--from blog posts (scroll down) to the Daily Insight links (click on the link in the sidebar) to a bunch of useful survival links (ditto, in the sidebar).  Hopefully this will make updating everything faster and easier and much less complicated (like keeping the website from being hacked.  Repeatedly).  Thanks for following along...

Check Out the New CNI Website

There's been a bit of remodeling over at the Code Name Insight website.  Check out the new site here.  All of the same info is there but the design has been revamped. Also this blog should be a bit more active over the next few months as my travel schedule has slowed down a bit which will allow me to concentrate on writing (fascinating, useful, interesting) blog posts for your reading pleasure.

If you head on over to the main Code Name Insight site you will see the same useful information but in a new and better format.  Also on the newly designed site are ways you can help support both the CNI site and blog by either making a donation, clicking through the ads, or ordering your products from Amazon through the widget on the site.  The idea is to make this site self-supporting without trying to hawk a bunch of products which takes away from the main focus of this site, namely, being prepared with a bunch of knowledge instead of a bunch of products.  Enjoy!

An FYI for new readers of this blog...each day you can find even more survival/preparedness information over at the Daily InSight page of the CNI website. Check out this page for a wide range of information on preparing yourself and your family for disaster.

Support CNI!

We're trying a few new things to support the CNI website and blog without selling the actual content that is created (ie: we want to give away the content and not evolve the blog into a sort of giant marketing mess as some websites have done). There are a few websites (financial sites, not survival sites) which began with great content but morphed into every-other-post-is-a-marketing-hook to get you to buy yet another new product they have created. I also don't like reading posts where every other word has a product link to it. I am, however, a fan of free information and of helping people out so while the content will remain free, if you do want to make a donation, or better yet, if you are going to be buying something from Amazon anyway, you can now do this through the CNI site and we get a few bits for each purchase you make (unless you buy your wife a diamond ring in which case we would be set for a year!).

Website Update

I'll get back to regular posting on the blog later this week. If you check over at the CNI site, you will see that the website is in the middle of a major update. Thanks to all who have helped keep the info current on the website, especially Kevin over at the Knowledge is the Killer of Fear blog has been a huge help providing links and Joe (you can find his business here) for the long list of broken links! There were a couple of others who had emailed some link update info who I didn't get to repond to (email SNAFU) so thanks to you all as well.

Happy New Year (and a Website Update)

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy (and prepared and prosperous) New Year! The CNI website has been updated as of today and lots of old/disabled/broken links have been removed from the huge link list while a bunch of new and useful links have been added.
On a side note, I hope everyone was able to start their new year of with a bang. Mine entailed a midnight run and a short 5k this morning. Which is the reason I always encourage people to actually get out and do stuff--you learn a lot of useful preparedness stuff when you actually partake in semi-related activities. Case in point, I learned that my Goretex jacket works great in a downpour and my rain pants don't so, in the event of a disaster that would require me to be outside for many hours in a downpour, I wouldn't have known that my rain pants were crap and would have been kicking myself for not being better prepared. I am also learning some things I had forgotten, like how to take care of blistered feet...

Website Update

Just a quick note... The CNI site (www.codenameinsight.com) was recently updated to improve the link structure. This means that many of the link paths have been changed so if you can't find the link you need (ie: to the Huge Link Directory) simply go to the CNI site and relink to it. Sorry for the confusion. Hopefully this will be the last major change to the site in the foreseeable future.

Website Update

If you've visited the CNI website lately (www.codenameinsight.com) you have probably wondered what the Hell happened to it. Looks fairly atrocious, I know. After a hardware crash and a software issue, we settled for a quick cut and paste job so that we could at least keep the Daily INsight part updated regularly until the final site could be developed. Stay tuned...it should look better soon...

Stupid Turkish Hackers

If you tried to check the CNI website today you will notice the Turkish Hackers have once again hijacked it. I have no idea what their fascination is with my website but now that the problem has been noted it should be fixed quickly.

Revamping CNI...Ads...Blog Posts

You have probably noticed a slightly new look over at the CNI (www.codenameinsight.com) website. If you have been around for a while, you will remember that at first, all of the links were in two columns which made for a really long page. Then we rearranged the links into four columns which made for a really hard to focus on page (there were links everywhere). Now we are at three columns of links so hopefully this will be a happy medium between a too long page and a too schizophrenic page.

You will also see some ads on the site and on the blog as well. For years we have been supporting this site without ads, donations or any other source of income to cover expenses. With blogging, AdSense seems to be all the rage so we figured that this may be a good way to get a little bit of income coming in to help pay the bills as web traffic continues to increase.

And finally, you will see that blog posts will be occurring at a more regular pace. Much like updating of the site, a crazy schedule on our part leads to feast or famine when it comes to updates and blog posts. We are aiming for more consistency as far as updating and posting goes.
