10 Medications to Add to Your First Aid Kit

In a SHTF situation when pharmacies are closed and medical care make take a while to get to, it's a good idea to have a range of medications in your first aid kit to tide you/your patient over until you can get to definitive care.  Consider adding these important meds to your first aid kit:

  1. Aspirin (pain killer and blood thinner)
  2. Tylenol (acetaminophen; mild pain killer)
  3. Motrin/Aleve (NSAIDs; mild pain killer and reduces inflammation)
  4. Benadryl (antihistamine to counteract allergic reaction)
  5. Antibiotic (general medication to treat bacterial infections; requires a prescription)
  6. Antiviral (general medication to treat viral infections; requires a prescription)
  7. Anti-diarrhea medication (to stop diarrhea)
  8. Opiods (strong pain killer medication; requires a prescription)
  9. Prescription medications (a 90-day supply of current, necessary prescription meds) 
  10. Prescription medical delivery devices (Epi pen, asthma inhaler, injection kit for insulin, etc)
