Today we will focus on what can be learned from Venezuela. If you aren't familiar with the country, here's a quick overview. Here's an overview from a little over a year ago. You will note that things have become worse, not better.
How does that affect you? Unless you live in Venezuela, it probably won't have much impact on your everyday life but the opportunity to learn from this situation in the off chance that such a scenario happens here is quite valuable.
- As this article points out, when TSHTF, one of the most important items that people need is food. How would you prepare for a year or more of less than adequate food supplies? Stockpile? Garden? Better get started on that.
- One blogger pointed out that preppers can look at the Venezuela situation and make a list of what preps need to be made based on what they are out of in Venezuela. Good idea.
- Same blogger, a more general overview of the situation.
- Read up on a political overview of the situation here.
- Here's another blogger with some valuable tips for preparing before a collapse.
- And here is some reddit chatter about the situation from people who are actually in Venezuela.
So basically, starting to prepare now for any eventuality is a good idea. One way to do this is to go an entire day without spending a penny. Cook at home, eat at home, make your coffee at home, etc. Don't buy anything. When you can do that, aim for an entire weekend without spending anything. Then two weeks. Then a month or more. If you can do that, you will be in a rare (and valuable) position indeed.
Excellent post. I live in Venezuela and I am a freaking survival´s nut (not to mention I´m a extreme Fallout Games fan too). Now, seriously: I began my prepping a couple years ago, literally "SCAVENGING" food and buying it in "illegals" ways (so to speak) and now I can see what i´ve been prepping for: people fighting each other in the streets for food almost anytime, total medical and health care services collapse, this is shit on Earth. I have no debts and I went even further (and i mean to you to consider it): I spent all my money in all kind of supplys which I prefer not to mention them in case this website is overwatched by these shitty "socialist" cocksuckers, Thanks to you I know i´ve been doing things right. See ya in the Wasteland, buddy.
