My friend mother got a hearth attack while in mexico. he called the ambulance and the lady was transported several miles to the USA border, there was no charge for their services and oxigen, nitro, etc. and the personal even refused to accept a tip. telling my friend that if he wanted to help, to place a couple of bucks into the container whe the volunteers have a collection drive for the Red Cross.
After transfering the patient to the American ambulance and taken to the hospital about 6 miles away their services bill was around $1,500.00 dollars (if I remember correctly).
The Mexican ambulance was newer and superbly equipped and their personal was bilingual.
