A Quote to Remember

The movie "Swing Vote" is playing in the background this evening. I was barely paying attention to is as I generally read online or read books in the evening while the spouse watches TV but when I heard this quote, my head snapped up.

"All the world's great civilizations have followed the same path. From bondage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency, from complacency to apathy, and from apathy back to bondage. If we are to be the exception to history, then we must break the cycle, for those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Um, I think we are pretty much towards the far side of the cycle and I hope enough of us will work to break the cycle. Soon.

  1. And THAT is exactly the problem: Everyone's in the slave mentality, standing around, arms folded infront of them, continually bitching about/anxiously waiting for somebody else to do something about it...The attitude that NEVER accomplishes anything beyond letting society fall into ruin!

  2. I am against breaking the cycle when it's time for liberty! The mass of people are waiting for the end of O'bondage. I will vote in November. Someone standing outside my voting place with a stick will not stop me.

  3. Its not just wanting to break the cycle, but a willingness to go against human nature by instituting measures that will stop the bleeding and start a movement towards positive growth.

Thing is, there's a lot of intertia built up behind the programs that got us here. Its like trying to stop a freight train with a 2x4.

Let us hope those willing to do something about it seek positions where they may do so. Soon.
