Stop the Insanity!

I don't know about everyone else but my taxes can't afford to prop up every greedy, over extended company in the country. First the government bailed out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and I thought the idea was ludicrous. Hello--us tax payers (that's where the government's money comes from to bail out these companies) have enough problems without taking on the debt of these huge corporations. Anyway, next came rumors of a proposed bailout of Lehman Brothers which didn't happen. Hallelujah...finally I thought someone figured out that the citizens of our country shouldn't have to finance bankrupt companies that will gladly take our money when they are scraping the bottom of the financial barrel yet when they are swimming in profits do you think these companies would give some of their excess income to the citizens of our country? Um, not a chance. If you read today's news, you will see that WE (you, me, and everyone else we know) has bailed out yet another company (AIG). When will this insanity end???

  1. This is really about taking accountability and personal responsibility for your actions. Many citizens took loans and bought houses they could not afford with piss-poor (low down) financing. The bail outs and loses corelate directly to the defaults in the housing industry. Our own (and corporate) greed sent us down this path. Those of us who are responsible and live within our means are now having to take care of those who don't understand sacrifice and take personal responsibilty. It's not a coincidence that the 50% who pay 97% of the taxes are getting short-changed once again.

  2. It won't end because big business has infiltrated the government completely. If your business fails, to bad chump. If a big business fails your hard earned tax dollars will go towards saving them so that they can get back into making gobs of money.

  3. It will end when we the people put down this government like the rabid dog it is.

The Democrat and Republican parties need to be put out of our missery.

  4. it will end when there is one bank the federal reserve.

the fed reserve is not part of the gov remember.

anon it has nothign to do with loans. it has to do with bankers gambling with trillions of dollars at a time. the loans were the tiny event that sparked it. the costs ahead will be astronomical.

when the news keeps saying banks are too big to fail in one story and then switch to stories of mega bank mergers in the next story explaining how great it is that these mergers are you have to wonder.

  5. "When will this insanity end???"

About the time that humanity becomes extinct. See Jerry Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy and Henry de Jouvenel ("A nation of sheep will surely beget a government of wolves." et al) for more insight.

    *sigh*

I do have to remind myself that despair is a deadly sin and that temporary remissions of the cancer that is human greed as exemplified in politics (for the "economic crisis" we nw see is entirely a "feddle gummint" artifact) do occur from time to time. Perhaps we'll experience a brief respite from such governmental stupidities in the near future.

Well, a guy can dream, can't he?
